Indian Animation Industry

India a country who gave the world Mahabharata one of the biggest epics in the world has yet not tapped in the most creative and expressive medium of storytelling 'Animation'. we fall short on content creation due to our negligence and attitude towards animation, we say its for " children" and end the topic.

We all Must have seen 'Ramayana: The legend of Prince Rama' when i was a child i used to watch it air on Cartoon network. its is one of the finest representation of the epic but you know its produced and directed by Yugo Sako, Its a Japanese production. its not just that many more tales are taken form Mahabharata and then adapted in different nations for there audience.

Japan alone has provided more than 20% of animated content worldwide. Indians fall short on this contribution due to our negligence and false belief of 'animation is made for Kids'.

If We look closely in our own Society and epics we will find Content that can easily overcome the shortfall and repetition of content we see on Big screen and give our audience something new every time. currently our animation market is dominated my IP's Like chhota Bheem and Motu Patlu which contributes the stigma of animation being merely a kids watch.

We need to Tap the right audience and provide them with better content to change this stigma for starters. Netflix's Recent Series Love Death and Robots gives us a chance to see that animation is not limited to Children and has a wide scope of audience.

Lets hope to see this change in Mind set reaches India Soon.
